The Science Behind Jowl Filler:
We utilise premium-grade, prescription-only hyaluronic acid (HA) to mould and augment the volume loss and skin laxity in the jowl area.
HA is a polysaccharide glycosaminoglycan found in almost every cell, primarily concentrated within the extracellular matrix of the skin. Alongside elastin and collagen, HA plays a key role in skin rejuvenation, moisture, and laxity. In the gel form used for clinical-grade skin injections, HA attracts and retains water in the skin, making it an effective and durable “dermal filler” for correcting volume loss and smoothing wrinkles in the jowl area. Different companies offer HA fillers with varying densities, stabilities, molecular sizes, and concentrations, allowing for customised and long-lasting results.
Please note that we do not use or recommend calcium hydroxylapatite-based (Radiesse) or poly L-lactic acid-based (Sculptra) dermal fillers or permanent fillers, as these cannot be reversed.
The Jowl Filler Procedure:
Your journey to a lifted and rejuvenated jowl begins with a comprehensive consultation, facial analysis, and evaluation of your medical history and personal expectations by our experienced doctor.
The treatment is conducted using a sterile technique. Depending on the area of concern and personalised treatment plan, the clinician may use a combination of Secret Aesthetics’ specialised injection techniques to achieve the desired aesthetic result. We exclusively use premium quality HA fillers combined with a local anaesthetic. The procedure itself usually takes no more than 15 minutes, depending on the specific areas being treated.
Jowl Filler Side Effects:
Following the treatment, some common side effects may include temporary itching, redness, tenderness, and swelling in the treated area.
Swelling’s duration varies among individuals and can persist for up to 2 weeks in certain cases. While bruising at the injection points is usually minimal, it may vary depending on an individual’s natural tendencies. We prioritise your well-being and take measures to minimise risks, including conducting a thorough medical evaluation and advising limiting alcohol intake 48 hours prior to and post-procedure to aid recovery.
Results of Jowl Fillers:
Expect immediate, visible results that can last on average 6-12 months.
Hyaluronic acid is naturally broken down by the body over time, and the rate of breakdown may vary depending on an individual’s genetic makeup.
Jowl Filler Aftercare:
After Jowl Fillers, please refrain from touching or rubbing the treated areas for 12 hours.
Avoid makeup for 12 hours, exercise for 48 hours, and direct sun exposure and heat, i.e., hot showers/sauna/steam room for 72 hours. Swelling may vary from person to person and can last several days before you see the final result. Applying a cold compress to the area will help.
