We all know that nutrients are good for our skin but ensuring you get enough can be difficult. If you are conscious about your diet, you may have identified foods that have high levels of these nutrients. But for a really powerful boost to revitalise your skin health, Secret Aesthetics has the answer – mesotherapy.
What is Mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is a technique that was developed in the 1950s by the French Doctor Michel Pistor. He originally used it as a method to relieve pain through anaesthetic, though modern aestheticians have adopted this technique to deliver nutrients into the skin. A solution containing a combination of beneficial ingredients is injected directly into the dermis by way of a series of very small injections. This means that the solution bypasses the top layer of the skin, allowing for direct and deep delivery, and immediate absorption. Because of this, this procedure offers the best possible results from the formula used.
It has some of the benefits of microneedling too, as tiny holes are created in the skin, which stimulates the production of collagen.
What Does The Solution Contain?
The specific components of the solution will vary, depending on what your skin concerns are. After a consultation with one of their doctors, Secret Aesthetics will create a bespoke solution of ‘hero’ ingredients to best address your individual needs. A typical mesotherapy solution will contain:
- Antioxidants – These work to defend your body from free radicals. Free radicals are a naturally occurring by-product of the body’s metabolic processes, though they also come as a result of environmental factors, such as air pollution and smoke. They have the capability to damage the body’s skin cells by changing a cell fundamentally. Antioxidants fight free radicals to eliminate them before any damage can be done.
- Peptides – If you’re unfamiliar with them, they are amino acids that make up certain proteins needed by the skin. For example, collagen is made of three peptide chains, which means that adding peptides to this treatment option can stimulate your body’s production of this substance. In turn, collagen helps to maintain the structure of the skin to keep it supple and youthful-looking.
What Results Can I Expect?
Depending on the bespoke formula we create for you, mesotherapy can result in more radiant skin, a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and an improvement in the appearance of pigmentation and dark circles. You may see results after as little as one session, though for the best results, a course of six sessions, two weeks apart, is recommended.
