What is Platelet-rich Plasma?
Plasma is one of the key components of the blood: essentially the substance that everything else (red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets) are carried by through the blood vessels. Platelets, on the other hand, are the small fragments of cells that prevent bleeding – clotting wounds to stem the flow of blood and stopping it from all pouring out. Pretty important stuff.
What is Biotin?
A form of Vitamin B with a range of functions in the body – from helping break down food into energy, to regulating the activity of genes. But the most relevant role it plays for this article is the stimulation of hair follicle growth: essentially, when used correctly, it can aid in growing new hairs – both on your scalp and on your face.
How is it used?
Using a centrifuge, a small sample of the patient’s blood is treated to separate the plasma and platelets from the red and white blood cells. This leads to the sample having a far higher concentration of platelets than before – and it can then be injected directly into a problem area to stimulate faster healing.
Unlike most clinics, our PRP also contains Biotin. Upon injection into the head, the PRP promotes the growth of new hair follicles and a restoration of your scalp’s health. In just one session you can see a change for up to two years – though if you want to ensure the best results then we recommend a course of four.
Are there any risks?
All of our treatments, when administered by qualified professionals like our clinicians, are considered incredibly safe (we wouldn’t perform them if they weren’t!).
