Reverse filler treatment
It’s a sad fact that there are some cowboy clinics out there, run by underqualified or undertrained staff. They often look glossy enough to convince clients they’re legitimate, and unfortunately, these paying customers sometimes end up with underwhelming results. It may be a great relief to some, then, to learn that dermal filler treatments – even poorly placed ones – are easy to reverse.
Here at Secret Aesthetics, we often find ourselves performing corrective work on badly-done filler using injections of an enzyme known as hyaluronidase. Let’s explore the reasons people seek such a procedure, and how it works.
Why would I want to reverse my filler treatment?
Reality doesn’t match your image
Have you ever been for a haircut, shown them a photo of your desired style, and let them work their magic? Ever looked at the results and thought “it’s exactly what I asked for, but not what I really wanted?” It happens with fillers, too. Sometimes, the reality doesn’t match the imagination, and you may want a clean slate. This situation can arise at any clinic, and it’s worth being aware of. As noted, however, it happens far more often when treatments aren’t professionally-administered (often because the results don’t match what you asked for at all).
It was badly-done
On that subject, a mishandled treatment can cause ‘over-filling’, in which the target area receives too much filler and appears unnatural or overblown. Furthermore, unwanted results such as asymmetry, nodules, bumpiness or lumps are also more likely to occur when a procedure is delivered unprofessionally.
You reacted badly to it
In certain cases (ie. when the client’s medical history or existing conditions are not considered), filler injections can cause extended side-effects like swelling, itching or allergic reaction. Though mild, temporary side-effects are fairly common after the treatment, a badly-done one carries a risk of undesirable complications.
To minimise the chance of any of the above, Secret Aesthetics always hold a consultation before any procedure to discuss the desired outcome and potential complications.
What’s the solution?
Hyaluronidase injections are a natural reversal to a natural treatment – both it and the hyaluronic acid (HA) it breaks down, are produced by our body already. It is this fact that makes dermal filler such a safe and simple treatment in the first place. The hyaluronidase already presents in our tissue dissolves HA over time, which is why the results of filler treatment wear off after a number of months or years.
However, a larger quantity of hyaluronidase can be injected into the problem area to achieve this result within several days. The reversal procedure is as fast and painless as the filler treatment itself and is all but guaranteed to fix the problem.
