Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance produced by the body, mainly concentrated within the extracellular matrix of the skin, acting as a scaffolding underneath the skin's surface.
Alongside elastin and collagen, HA plays a crucial role in maintaining firm, tight, rejuvenated, and moisturised skin. However, as we age, our body’s natural production of these substances decreases, resulting in reduced skin support and loss of youthful plumpness. This breakdown makes us more susceptible to atrophic, gravitational wrinkles, and sagging skin.
In its gel form used for clinical-grade skin injections, HA attracts and retains water, making it a highly effective and durable ‘dermal filler’ for facial volume augmentation, wrinkle correction, and contouring of facial features. Most HA fillers are naturally extracted and stabilised using fermenting bacteria. Different companies offer HA fillers with varying densities, stabilities, molecular sizes, and concentrations, influencing their water-drawing potential and providing variable longevity and mouldability. This allows for better and more suitable reconstitutions for specific procedures.
Please note that we do not use nor recommend calcium hydroxylapatite-based (Radiesse) or poly L-lactic acid-based (Sculptra) dermal fillers or permanent fillers, as these cannot be reversed.

- Swelling is variable from person to person but is common and may last several days before the final result becomes visible. Applying a cold compress to the area can help alleviate swelling.
